Helen J. Woodle, 84, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016, at her home in Lehigh.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2016, at the Christian Church in Lehigh. Pastor Richard Laird will officiate. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh. Helen Jean Williams was born on July 2, 1931, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Norman and Wilma (Anderson) Williams. She attended Boone schools.
On March 29, 1947, Helen was united in marriage to Wilbur Eugene Woodle in Webster City. The couple made their home in the Burnside/Lehigh area. Helen worked at the DeKalb Research Farm in Dayton from 1962 until retiring in 2002.
Helen was a member of the Christian Church in Lehigh. She belonged to the Lehigh Women's Club, Sr. Citizens Center serving noon meals on Monday's, and was active in the annual Lehigh River Days Celebration where she sold tickets for many years. She enjoyed having coffee with friends, card games in downtown Lehigh, and bowling tournaments and also in the Dayton League. Helen was well known for her famous peanut butter fudge and Christmas cookie packages during the holidays.
Helen is survived by one daughter, Adeline (Nick) Greuniesen of Sioux City, Iowa; four sons, Norman (Collette) Woodle of Stratford, Iowa, Larry (Barbara) Woodle of Omaha, Nebraska, Ron (Kim) Woodle of Duncombe, Iowa, and Dave Woodle also of Duncombe, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson; and one sister, Dort Thompson of Nevada, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wilbur Woodle on April 14, 2006, granddaughter, Kacie Woodle, one sister, Marge Scalia, and three brothers, Lyle, Rick, and Zeldon Williams.
