Ileen LaVonne Youngren, 86 of Lehigh, Iowa, went home with Jesus on December 10, 2012 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Ileen, the daughter of Oliver and Treva (Coomer) Snyder, was born on August 15, 1926. She attended Iowa State Teacher's College and taught for many years. Ileen married Chester Youngren on October 17, 1948. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Ileen is survived by her husband, Chester Youngren of Lehigh, Iowa; daughters Teri Brecht (Bill), St. Charles, Missouri; Elaine Winchell, Dayton, Iowa; son-in-law, Don Rutenbeck, Altoona, Iowa; sister, Shirley (Richard) Bowman, Ames, Iowa; grandsons Dan (Sarah) Brecht and Jon Brecht, St. Charles, Missouri; Justin Winchell, Des Moines, Iowa; step granddaughters Ahnada (Dean) Stephenson, Des Moines, Iowa; Carissa (Steve) Lahey, Ankeny, Iowa and Nikki (Doug) Vogel, Altoona, Iowa; 5 great step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois Hanson; son, Tim Youngren; and daughter, Anne Rutenbeck.
Ileen was involved with her church for many years. She was well-known in the area for her special cinnamon rolls and rye bread as well as Swedish Ostkaka. Ileen loved and was loved by her family. She was a friend to many.
A special thank you goes out to all the wonderful medical staff involved with Ileen's care. The staff from Trinity Hospice and at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home who worked with Ileen over the past year at home and while at the hospice home have been more caring and helpful than ever imagined.
No service is planned at this time. Graveside rites will be scheduled at a later date. Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to either: the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, or the Lehigh United Methodist Church.
