Jack R. Peters, 82, of Ogden, Iowa, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 10: 30 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Bethel Church rural Boone. Pastor Ray Hoke will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Garden Cemetery in Boone with Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Boone Veteran's Council. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.

Jack Richard Peters was born on October 31, 1926, in Superior, Nebraska, the son of John and Mary (Sparks) Peters. He graduated with the Central High School class of 1944, in Omaha, Nebraska. Jack served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946, during WWII. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Jack attended Drake University. He spent most of his career years working in Journalism. Jack was united in marriage to Anita J. Young on October 30, 1971.

Jack was an avid reader during his later years and enjoyed being a H.A.M. Operator. He enjoyed golfing. He attended Bethel Church, rural Boone. He loved being with the family and always had fun stories to tell.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Peters of Ogden, Iowa; son, Nickolas Jon Peters; two daughters, Barb (Mike) Barker of Pilot Mound, Iowa, and Cindy Watson of Boone, Iowa; son, Larry E. Young of Boone, Iowa; and son-law-law, Mike Lingelbach of Boone, Iowa; grandchildren, Micah (Parvez) Faisal, Troy Young, Travis Watson, Brittie Crooks, Ayrrin Kostelnick, Jeff Lindgren, and Jim Lindgren; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Young, Tyson Young, Tristan Crooks, Tacey Crooks, Isabelle Kostelnick, and Francesca Kostelnick. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Errita Lingelbach; and grandson, Andy Moore.
