James Sr. Irving

James L. Irving Sr., 82, of Stratford, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City.

James Leslie Irving Sr., was born on April 5, 1935, in Columbia, Iowa, the son of Varle and Velta (Crandall) Irving.

On January 21, 1954, James was united in marriage to Dixie Lee Shipman. The couple lived in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

As a young man Jim worked at Combs of Fort Dodge and Celotex until his retirement in 1998.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and working with his hands.

Survivors include his children, Cindy Whalen, Susan Ramsey, Roxanne Orres, James L. Irving Jr., Barbara Luckenbill, and Jason Irving; 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and two brothers, John Irving and Jerry Irving.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dixie, and several siblings.
