James "Jim" West

James “Jim” West, 77, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Unity Point Health ~ Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

James Elwood West was born on June 13, 1947, in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Lonzo “Bud” and Dorothy (Morrow) West.

On February 24, 1968, Jim was united in marriage to Francis “Frankie” Wilcox at the Christian Church in Lehigh, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Lonnie and Rick.

Jim worked at Evans Construction in his early years, and after moving to Dayton was employed by Campbell Manufacturing, Tell Well Company, and Telco Inc. in Dayton.

He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with family.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Francis “Frankie” West on October 4, 2022, son, Lonnie Ray West, and brothers, Mike West, and Georald West.

Survivors include his son, Rick (Stacey) West of Harcourt, Iowa; grandchildren, Sarah (Kirk) Kelley, Stefan West (Mackenzie Yarrington), and Rachel (Brenden) Kelley; great-grandchildren, Kyah Kelley, Kaden Kelley, Jaxsen West, Bentley Sorrell, Stella West, Meyah Sorrell, and Oaklyn Kelley; brothers, Randy West of Centerville, Iowa, Donnie West of Exline, Iowa, sister, Shelly (Dwayne) Brookhart of Centerville, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
