Jane Ferrari, 82, of Pilot Mound, Iowa, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. Pastors Rod Meyer and Tom Lundberg will officiate. Burial will be at Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport. Visitation will be Sunday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.
Jane Gay was born on September 12, 1926, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Conklin Gay Sr. and Marguerite (May) Gay. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. Jane graduated with the Boone High School class of 1945. She was employed as a certified nurse's aide in the nursery at the Boone County Hospital until retiring in 1961. Jane was united in marriage to Johnnie Ferrari on October 29, 1960, at Trinity Evangelical Church in Boone. The couple established their home a mile and a half east of Pilot Mound where they farmed their entire lives. Johnnie passed away on June 17, 2006.
Jane belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. In her younger years, she enjoyed taking pictures. She also enjoyed cooking for family and friends and loved to be around children. Jane had a gift with kids, matter of fact many children grew up around the farm, they called her mama Jane, even though she was not their real mom.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Brian) Terry of Pilot Mound, Iowa; son, John Ferrari of Pilot Mound, Iowa; her twin brother, Conklin Gay Jr. of Boone, Iowa; two sisters, Elizabeth (Lauren) Lundberg of Linden, Iowa, and Dorothy (Arnold "Smoke") Brogden of Boone, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnnie Ferrari; and one sister, Barbara Easterday.
Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family
