Jay Clausen, 65, of Boxholm, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 10, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. Private family burial will be at a later date at Union Cemetery southeast of Boxholm. For online obituaries and condolences please visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com
Jay Vernon Clausen was born on November 6, 1952, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Arlene (Freeman) Clausen. He graduated with the Grand Community High School class of 1971.
On September 14, 1974, Jay was united in marriage to JoAnn Dunkelberger. They were blessed with two children, Bryan and Jill.
Jay retired from Landus Cooperative in February of 2017, where he worked for 30+ years. He also farmed in the Pilot Mound and Boxholm area.
Jay was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. He was active in 4-H in his earlier years and later enjoyed helping Bryan and Jill with their 4-H livestock and home economics projects, attending the Boone County and Iowa State Fair. He enjoyed raising cattle, classic cars, and attending his grandchildren's sporting and school events.
Jay is survived by his son, Bryan (Sara) Clausen of Rochester, Minnesota; daughter, Jill (Tim) Garton of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Drew and Blair Clausen, Gabryel Rudloff, and Jack Garton; his brother, Roy (Roberta) Clausen; one sister, Sharon Laughlin; a brother-in-law, David (Renae) Dunkelberger; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Cliff) Wilson, and Julie (Larry) Lockwood, and Sharon Clausen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, JoAnn on May 30, 2012, brother, Ray Clausen, brother-in-law, Stan Laughlin, nephew, Erik Laughlin, and father and mother-in-law, Harold and Nanette Dunkelberger.
