Mary Jean LeMaster was born November 29, 1929, in Ogden, Iowa the daughter of Marion and Ruth (Moody) LeMaster. She attended schools in Ogden and Boone, graduating with the Boone High School class of 1947. Jean married Irv Satre, a farm boy from Jewell, on November 24, 1949, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The couple lived and farmed southwest of Jewell until moving to Dayton in 1959. They continued farming in the Dayton area until 1984. Irv passed away on May 13, 2001. Jean worked as a telephone operator and nurse's aide.

Jean was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton where she also served as church secretary for seventeen years until retiring in December 2004. She belonged to the Peterson Post #323 American Legion Auxiliary. Jean would want us to remember her last home at the Grandview Care Center where she occupied what humorously was known as her "cell block" along with fellow "inmates" including Carroll Ott and other friends. As her brother Gary put it, Jean remained positive and continued living in spite of that setback. She became a bingo caller; played cards with Lucy, Barb, Marge, and Rosie; and put numerous puzzles together. She enjoyed activities and lots of fun and mutual support with Pam Beltz and Vicky Gilbert. And of course she maintained an active presence on the internet and Facebook.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Mona Satre of Ogden, Iowa and Dr. David and Kit Satre of Yucaipa, California; a daughter, LeeAnn Dawson and fianc Mark Probst of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Reece, Hallie, Thad, and Zane Satre, Cory Dawson, Christopher and Brianna Sheetz, and Sierra Satre; three brothers, Francis (deceased) and Anna Marie LeMaster, Urbandale, Iowa, Dale and Betty LeMaster of Glendora, California, Gary and Jan LeMaster, Omaha, Nebraska, and Raymond and Anita LeMaster of Ames, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Irv Satre; an infant son; sister Bonnie McCaskey, and brother Francis LeMaster.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the anesthesia, O.R. and E.R. staff, and the kind, intelligent nurses and doctors in the CCU at Iowa Methodist who supported Jean and her family through her surgery and difficult path. We are forever grateful to the "angels" who provided companionship and care at Grandview Care Center.
