Jeanne M. Manchester

Jeanne Marie Manchester, 86, of Dayton, Iowa, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Rev. Keith Putney will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lehigh. Visitation will also be Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton is in charge of the arrangements.

Jeanne Marie Bendixen was born on January 7, 1923, in Rolfe, Iowa, the daughter of Emmet and Lura (McGuffin) Bendixen. She attended schools in the Rolfe area. Jeanne was united in marriage to Maurice L. Manchester on November 24, 1945 at the Lundgren United Brethren Church. The couple farmed near Burnside for many years. Maurice passed away in December of 1981. Jeanne remained on the farm until moving into Dayton in 1992. In the summer of 2007, Jeanne moved to Tompkins Memorial Health Care Center in Fort Dodge.

Jeanne was hardworking and enjoyed farm life. She also loved spending time with her family and looking after her animals and pets.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Tuel (Mike Hilpipre) of Lehigh, Iowa, and Jayne (Mike) Cassidy of Fort Dodge, Iowa; three grandchildren, Mary Anne Tuel, Joe (Ashley) Tuel and Alyssa Schultz; five great-grandchildren, Hailey, Hunter, Hane, Ariana, and Landon; She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice Manchester; son, Kenneth Manchester; and a brother, Forest Bendixen.

Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
