JoAnn Boggess, 77, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 28, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.
JoAnn's wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be held Friday, December 3, 2010, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Burial will be held at a later date at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden.
JoAnn Bonita Bailey was born on January 11, 1933, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Vivian (Dugan) Bailey. She attended country school in the area of her birth and went on to achieve her high school diploma. JoAnn and Red owned and operated Ogden Frozen Foods in Ogden for many years.
JoAnn loved working outdoors, feeding and watching birds, video games, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed music and dancing, trips to the wild horse sanctuary in South Dakota, traveling, and trips to Las Vegas.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Allen "Red" Boggess of Ogden, Iowa; her children, Sandy (Francis) Carpenter of Ogden, Iowa, Val (Craig) Jones of Boone, Iowa, Mike Boggess of Boone, Iowa, Terri (Chad) Reutter of Ogden, Iowa, and Jeff (Christal) Boggess of Ogden, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Junior Bailey of Charles City, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian and Raymond; one sister, Peggy Chestnut; and her first husband, Harold Hanawalt.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at their discretion.
