John Floyd Estlund

John Floyd Estlund, 98, of Centerville, Ohio, died Monday, February 27, 2023, at Hospice of the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Peterson American Legion Post #323, Dayton, Iowa. John Estlund was born on October 5, 1924, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the oldest son of Floyd and Gladys (Dwyer) Estlund. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, his five brothers and one son. He graduated with the Barnum class of 1941. John was united in marriage to Shirley Marquis on April 3, 1943, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Fort Dodge. On June 5, 1943, John started active duty in the Navy during World War II and served until December 8, 1945. His training as an electrician was instrumental to his long career with Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric until his retirement.

John formerly belonged to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lehigh and Christ the King Catholic Church in Dayton, Iowa, and the Church of The Incarnation in Centerville, Ohio.

He is survived by; four sons and daughters-in-law, Larry (Deceased) and Sherill of Lakeville, Minnesota, John B. and Sue Estlund of Eagan, Minnesota, Randall and Irene Estlund of South Carolina, Patrick and Linda Estlund of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; a daughter, Kathy and her husband Roger Dosland of Centerville, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and one sister Nancy (Estlund) Howell of Falls City, Nebraska.
