John Morrison, 78, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at the Ogden Manor.
John's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Ogden Manor. Pastor Christine Cowan will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Private family burial will be held at a later date at Bethany Cemetery, Baxter, Iowa. John Luther Morrison was born on January 23, 1937, in Ames, Iowa, the son of Morris and Ura (Garrett) Morrison. He attended schools in Ames.
On February 19, 1966, John was united in marriage to Shirley Klemme at the Marion St. United Methodist Church in Boone. The couple resided in Boone until establishing their home in Ogden in 1972. John was employed as a mechanic for Quinn Machine & Foundry in Boone for 33 years, retiring in January of 1999.
John belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden for many years. He enjoyed mechanical work, especially working on cars.
John was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Mark and David Morrison, four brothers, Dick, Carl, Hank, and Eddie Morrison, and two sisters, Mim Efler and Bea Cena.
Among the survivors are his wife of 49 years, Shirley Morrison of Ogden, Iowa; one daughter, Cindy Lou Wegman of Belmond, Iowa; two sons, Terry Lee Morrison of Texas, and Jeffrey Lynn Morrison of Centerville, Iowa; and two sisters, Betty Sinnott and Bookie Cone of Escondido, California.
