John Stahr

John C. Stahr, 48, of Ogden, Iowa, died suddenly Saturday, July 11, 2009, at the Boone County Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2009, at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. Father Steve Brodersen will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden is in charge of the arrangements.

John Conrad Stahr was born on February 2, 1961, in Wilmington, North Carolina, the son of Mike and Irene (Sondey) Stahr. He graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1979. Following his education, John worked at Ahrens Service Station in Ogden and later at Pat Clemens in Boone. John was united in marriage to Patricia Smith on June 3, 1989, at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. The couple made their home in Boone before moving to Ogden in February of 1993. John was currently employed by Carney & Sons, Inc. in Ames where he had worked for over 13 years.

John belonged to St. John's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies included racing and fishing. John was an avid John Force fan. He enjoyed helping others, especially taking care of his family. John's dog, Bear, was his faithful companion and could always be found at John's side.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Stahr; son, Kristopher Stahr; and daughter, Katie Stahr all of Ogden, Iowa; parents, Mike and Irene Stahr of Ogden, Iowa; three brothers, Mike (Julie) Stahr of Boone, Iowa, and Pat (Mindy) Stahr of Ames, Iowa, and Matt (Chris) Stahr of Johnston, Iowa; sister, Mary Kuil of Ogden, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, Ron and Karen Smith of Boone, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Rhonda (Richard "Buck") Johnson of Boone, Iowa, and Penny Smith of Boone, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gordie Kuil.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
