Judy Elizabeth Sorenson

Judy E. Sorenson, 76 of Dayton, Iowa, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Friday, March 7, 2025.

A celebration of life for Judy will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton Pastor Kay. Christie will officiate. Visitation will be prior to the service, starting at 9:00 a.m. Inurnment of both Judy and her late husband, Kenneth will take place at a later date at Union Cemetery in Pomeroy, Iowa. Judy Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of Clifford and Ila (Edgerton) Johnson was born on April 29, 1948, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Judy was raised in Dayton where she attended Dayton Community Schools.

On June 19, 1965, Judy was united in marriage to Kenneth Allen Sorenson at the Dayton United Methodist Church. To this union four children were born: Jeffrey, Jolene, Jason and Jill.

Judy worked as a waitress and bartender in the Dayton area. In 1987, the couple moved to Loretto, Minnesota. While in Loretto, Judy worked at two bars and a coffee shop. Following Kenny’s passing in 2012, Judy returned to Dayton.

She is a member of the Dayton United Methodist Church, enjoyed ladies golf league at Oak Park Golf Course, and loved to shop!

In addition to her parents, Judy was also preceded in death by her husband Kenny of 48 years, grandson Hunter, longtime companion, Roger Stevens, four brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include her children, Jeffrey (Trish) Sorenson of Coon Rapids, IA, Jolene Griffin of Davenport, IA, Jason (Becky) Sorenson of Fort Dodge, IA, and Jill (Dan) Smith of Boone, IA; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; lots of nieces, nephews and cousins; and of course her beloved dog, Bella.
