Julene Peterson

Julene R. Peterson, 76, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away Thursday morning, December 8, 2011, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Rev. Stephen Ude will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden is in charge of the arrangements.

Julene Ralph Peterson was born on January 22, 1935, in Ogden, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Florence (Hagge) Peterson. He graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1953. Following his education, Julene served in the Iowa National Guard Red Bull Division for nine years.

On December 26, 1953, Julene was united in marriage to Karen R. Erickson at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. To this union two daughters were born: Lori and Lisa.

Julene worked for the Ogden Telephone Company and at the Fareway warehouse for over 29 years. He farmed with his father and continued farming following his retirement.

Julene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a member of several horse breed association's including the American Quarter Horse Association. Julene enjoyed watching the activities of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed farm sales, camping with family and friends, and visiting with the guys for coffee.

Among the survivors are his wife Karen of 51 years; daughters, Lori (Denny) Good, and Lisa Peterson all of Ogden, Iowa; grandchildren, Trish (Chip) Wisecup, Kelli (Tom) Burdette, and Joshua Good and friend Kelly Bayers; great grandchildren, Hunter Wisecup, Cohl and Brody Burdette and Bentley Jon Burdette to arrive in February; a brother, Kenneth (Hazel) Peterson of Ogden, Iowa; and aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Janice Christensen.
