Justin Charles Doran

Justin Charles (J. C.) Doran, 86, of Beaver, Iowa, died February 19, 2011, at the Ogden Manor. Born April 28, 1924, at the family farm near Beaver, J.C. was the eldest child of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Harker) Doran.

J.C. graduated from Beaver High School in 1942 and spent one quarter at Iowa State University.
Following his marriage to Patricia Ann Scheerer in Boone, Iowa, on May 18, 1945, J.C. served in the United States Army during World War II with the 25th Infantry Division in the Pacific theatre.

A lifetime farmer in the Beaver area, J.C. also worked over twenty years for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as an ASCS District Director in Iowa. He was an active member in the following local and county organizations: Beaver and Ogden school boards, Republican Party, Cattlemen's Association, Farm Bureau, and American Legion.
Over the years, J.C. took great pleasure in taking his grand and great-grandchildren and others for rides on his horses or in his homemade pony cart. He delighted in traveling the state of Iowa and relating local and personal history to others.

Survivors include his four children: Mike (Marcia) of Ames and their sons P.J., Kenny, and Adam; Tim (Susan) of Winterset and their daughters Liz and Becky; Peggy (Richard) and their daughters Abby and Annie; Doug (Laurie) and their children Matt, Josh, Trav, Zech, Danni, and Mattea; great-grandsons Cody, Jared, Lucas, and Aden; great-granddaughters Julia, Kylie, Taegan, Isla, and Ava. He is also survived by his three sisters: Beverly Healy of San Antonio, TX, Marilyn Doran of Boone, IA, and Virginia McCall of Carthage, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and brothers, Jim and Tom.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at the Beaver Church. Pastor Marjorie Smalley will officiate. Interment will be in the Beaver Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Boone Veteran's Council. Visitation will be at the Carson -Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden on Monday, February 21, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the Beaver Church on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers memorials gifts will be distributed to the Boone Veteran's Council, Beaver Cemetery, and the Beaver Church.
