Keith Strandberg, 76, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at the Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 2011, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Following visitation, Keith's body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2011, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. Ministry Intern Kevin Baker will officiate. Burial will be in the Dayton Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Peterson American Legion Post #323.
Keith Lee Strandberg was born on March 14, 1935, in Dayton, Iowa, the son of Evert and Helen (Brundien) Strandberg. He graduated with the Dayton High School class of 1953. Keith served his country in the United States Army from March of 1955 to March of 1957. On December 11, 1960, Keith was united in marriage to Beverly Schlief at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. To this union three children were born: Pam, Nancy, and Corey. Keith was a lifelong resident of Dayton where he co-owned and operated Strandberg Builders.
Keith belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council and sang in choir for over 50 years. He also served on the Dayton City Council, the Celebration Committee, and was a member of the Town & Country Barbershop Choir in Fort Dodge.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Beverly Strandberg of Dayton, Iowa; two daughters, Pam Clancy of Dayton, Iowa, and Nancy (John) Opperman of Manning, Iowa; one son, Corey Strandberg of Hayesville, Kansas; six grandchildren, George and Brianna Clancy, Jason and Scott Opperman, and Casey and Riley Strandberg; two brothers, Jack (MaryLou) Strandberg of Dayton, Iowa, and Charles (Marilyn) Strandberg of Mason City, Iowa. His parents preceded him in death.
Memorials may be directed to either: Emanuel Lutheran Church or the Dayton Rescue Squad.
