Kim A. Kiesey, 70, of Burnside, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics on Monday, October 17, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 23, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Pastor Craig Vote will officiate. Following services, Kim will be cremated. Kimberly Ann Barr was born on April 28, 1952, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Dale and Jacqueline (Boyd) Barr. She graduated with the Alta High School class of 1970, and furthered her education at D.M.A.C.C. Ankeny Campus in the child development field.
On April 22, 1972, Kim was united in marriage to Randy Check. They were blessed with two children, Amy and Aaron. The couple established their home in Burnside. Randy passed away on November 10, 1992.
In 1998, Kim was married to Michael Kiesey in Fort Dodge.
Kim worked at Heartland Communications in Fort Dodge for many years until retiring in May of 2021.
Kim belonged to the Covenant Church in Harcourt. She enjoyed visiting the Amish, reading Amish books, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Randy Check, son, Aaron Check in 2003, and her brother-in-law, Terry Hermann.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Kiesey of Burnside, IA; daughter, Amy Freeman (Troy Madsen) of Stanhope, Iowa; five grandchildren, Maddison Freeman, Savanna Freeman, Jordan (Breanna) Slotten, Maryssa Check, and Marcus Check; two great-grandchildren, Orville Slotten, and Alexa Slotten; three sisters, Gayle Hermann of Ames, IA, Nancy Barr of Storm Lake, IA, and Kirsten Jones of Storm Lake, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family
