Lamont "Boy" Ferguson

LaMont "Boy" Ferguson, 70, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2013, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. Pastor Arhiana Shek will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Burial will be in the Dayton Cemetery. Lamont Devris Ferguson was born on April 9, 1943, in Laurens, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Clarice (Rudshagen) Ferguson. He was raised in Perry, Iowa, graduating with the Perry High School class of 1961.
LaMont married Connie Welch in 1966, and they were blessed with two sons: Lonnie & Curt. The couple later divorced.
On December 4, 1971, LaMont was united in marriage to Kay (Aunspach) Carlsen. With this marriage Kay brought David & Paula. LaMont & Kay where blessed with a daughter: Dianna. Kay passed away on October 25, 1991.
Prior to moving to Dayton, LaMont worked for U.P.S. In 1975, he moved to Dayton where he established his home and was employed at Buckley & Busch Mfg., Dayton Mfg., and Campbell Mfg. In his later years, he worked various jobs including the Rusty Spur.
LaMont lived the remaining years of his life with his companion, Mercedes "Cede" Schwering. The couple operated Cede's Kitchen in Dayton. Cede passed away on November 6, 2011.
LaMont belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. In his earlier years, he volunteered for the Dayton Fire Department. LaMont enjoyed golfing, playing pool, bowling, and darts.
Among the survivors are five children, David (Donna) Carlsen of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lonnie (Angie) Ferguson of Nevada, Iowa, Paula (John) Gallentine of Dayton, Iowa, Curt Ferguson of Dayton, Iowa, and Dianna Gollob (Steve Herrick) of Dayton, Iowa; one brother, Keith (Mary) Ferguson of Dayton, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. His parents, wife, Kay Ferguson, companion, Mercedes "Cede" Schwering, one brother, Rance Ferguson, two sisters, Gwenna Groff and Lana Buckley, and one grandson, J.D. Gollob, preceded him in death.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
