Laurel "Pat" Landals

Laurel "Pat" Landals, 87, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at the Boone County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2014, at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Rev. Gary Hoyt will officiate. Burial will be at Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Iowa National Guard Military Funeral Honors. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home. Laurel George Landals was born on May 3, 1927, in Frazier, Iowa, the son of Laurel and Evelyn (Becker) Landals. He was a graduate of the Pilot Mound High School. Following his education, Pat served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Pat was united in marriage to Betty Anderson. To this union three sons were born: Craig, Scott, and Jeff. The couple later divorced.

Pat worked as a heavy equipment operator at Northern Natural Gas in Ogden for over 30 years, retiring in 1986.

Pat was a loving father and grandfather. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing pool. After retiring he took up the game of golf and became an avid player. He was a longtime member of the Groom – Kimsey American Legion Post #16, Pilot Mound, Iowa.

Among the survivors are his three sons, Craig Landals of Lake George, Colorado, Scot Landals, and Jeff Landals of Boone, Iowa; six grandchildren, Nathan, Jake, Lake, Jeremy, Jason, and Angie; three great-grandchildren, Eliana, Aiden, and Landon; one brother, Bernie Landals of Boone, Iowa; one sister, Phyllis (Bob) Leverton of Des Moines, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Darlene Pearson and Deloris Landals in infancy.
