Laurie Annette (Shafer) Doran, 67, of Beaver, IA passed away suddenly July 4th at her home.
Laurie was born January 1, 1956, to James and Ruth (Jones) Shafer in Boone, IA. She attended both secondary and high school in Boone graduating with the class of 1974. Laurie attended Iowa State University graduating with an associate degree in clothing and textiles. November 13th, 1976, Laurie married the love of her life, Douglas Doran, at the First Baptist Church in Boone. To this union 6 children were born: 4 boys and 2 girls.
Laurie held different jobs throughout the years; Beaver grain elevator, Kelly’s Amaco station, the Boone County Republican election board, and cleaned homes for various people around Boone.
Her most favorite jobs though included being a wife to Douglas, a mom to her 6 kids and a grammy to her 13 grandchildren.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, scrapbooking, collecting and decorating her home and yard with antiques but her greatest joy was spending time with her family together at the home farm.
Laurie is survived by her husband Doug of 46 years. Her 6 children; Matthew (Abbie) Doran of Boone, Joshua (Lori) Doran of Ogden, Travis (Erin) Doran of Ogden, Dannielle (Micah) Rasmussen of Boone, Zechariah (Kylie) Doran of Grand Junction, and Mattea (Devin) Boettcher of Ogden. 12 grandchildren; Kylie, Jace and Lainey Doran, Ryder Graham and Jane Doran, Tucker, Brody and Oaklyn Doran, Elleyanna and Aliyah Rasmussen, Bentlee Hoskinson, Wrenley Boettcher and more on the way. Brothers Craig (Amy) Shafer of Boone and Rodney (Maki) Shafer of Japan and sister Jenny Stowell of Boone. Many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death; one grandson Hayes Matthew, her parents and grandparents, many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 10, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Boone. Pastor Don Beal will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, July 9, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden.
