Laverda Mae Prouty

LaVerda M. Prouty, 88, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away at her home on Saturday, September 23, 2023, while surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services for LaVerda will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Ogden Baptist Church with Pastor Curt Fincham officiating. Burial will follow at Beaver Cemetery in Beaver, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.

LaVerda Mae Russell, daughter of Truman and Helen (Donner) Russell was born on April 15, 1935, in Afton, Iowa. LaVerda grew up in Greenfield, Iowa, where she received her education and graduated from Greenfield High School with the class of 1955.

On December 29, 1956, LaVerda was united in marriage to Estel LeRoy Prouty in Maryville, Missouri.

LaVerda has lived in the Ogden area since 1964, and after her children were grown she worked for several years as a cook at the Ogden Community Schools until retiring in 1969.

She was a member of the Ogden Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling, making quilts for her family, embroidery, loved cooking, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed going to the McGraw Center playing cards and attending lunches.

In addition to her parents, LaVerda was also preceded in death by her husband, Estel Prouty; her daughter, Margaret Malone and two brothers, Harry and Roland Russell.

Survivors include her three sons, Jeff (Patty) Prouty of Ankeny, Randy (Pam) Prouty of Boone, and Marty (Linda) Prouty also of Boone; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; five brothers, Kenneth Russell, John (Ruby) Russell, Oliver (Cathy) Russell, Donald (Donna) Russell, Roger (Barb) Russell; three sisters, Edna (LeRoy) Recker, Marjorie McVay, Diane Kempf; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be given to the Ogden Baptist Church in memory of LaVerda Prouty.
