LeRoy "Nick" Nekvinda, 81, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at his home in Dayton.

LeRoy Donald Nekvinda was born on August 18, 1931, in Olivia, Minnesota, the son of Anton and Rose (Stanek) Nekvinda. He was a graduate of the Fort Dodge Senior High School, and went on to attended journeyman school. Following his education, Nick worked as an electrician.
In 1951, LeRoy was married to Sheila Rowe. To this union three children were born: Kevin, Toni, and Coral. LeRoy and Sheila later divorced.
LeRoy was united in marriage to Laura Dorman on July 28, 1976, in Rapid City, South Dakota. The couple had lived in Lehigh, Dayton, Indianola, Fort Dodge, and Paton. Laura passed away on February 17, 2009.
Nick and Laura loved traveling in their motor home and had wintered in the south for fifteen years. He also enjoyed visiting casinos.
Survivors include three children, Kevin Nekvinda of Kimberling City, Missouri, Toni Nekvinda of Orient, Iowa, and Coral (John) Swanson of Kansas City, Kansas; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Leona Haub of Solon, Iowa;
and many nieces and nephews. His parents, wife, Laura Nekvinda, one brother, Luverne Nekvinda, and two sisters, Eleanor Palmer and Bertha Nekvinda in infancy, preceded him in death.
