Lewis "Gene" Martin

Lewis “Gene” Martin, 82, of Lehigh, Iowa, passed away at Friendship Haven Journeys in Fort Dodge, on Monday, March 9, 2020.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., at the Lehigh Community Center. Private family burial will be at the Otho Cemetery at a later date. For online obituaries & condolences visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com

Lewis Eugene Martin was born on June 20, 1937, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Art and Ellen (Wigman) Martin.

On June 4, 1984, Gene was united in marriage to Paula Sandgren. He worked at Lehigh Sewer Pipe & Tile until 1998, and at Dayton Farm Drainage until 2000. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren, gardening, and was an avid collector of hot wheels

He was preceded in death by his parents, and six sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Martin of Lehigh, IA; sons, Rick Martin of Idaho, and Scott Martin of Bennett, Colorado; step-sons, Bart (DeAnn) Sandgren of Storm Lake, IA, Carl (Kim) Sandgren of Callender, IA; three grandchildren, Jensen, Jenna, and Kendall Sandgren; sister, Betty Loewen of Eldora, IA, Joan Lohr of Des Moines, IA; brothers-in-law, Gary (Nancy) Peterson of Slater, IA, Greg (Connie) Peterson of Polk City, IA; sisters-in-law, Dana (David) Lamb of Johnston, IA, Jan (Terry) McGee of Urbandale, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
