Mabel I. Crouch, 98, of the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone, and formerly of Ogden, died Tuesday morning, December 29, 2009, at the Evangelical Free Church Home.
Mabel's wishes were to be cremated. There will be no services. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden is in charge of the arrangements
Mabel Irene Hinman was born on April 10, 1911, in Boone County, Iowa, the daughter of George and Emma (Showers) Hinman. She was a graduate of the Pilot Mound High School. Following her education, Mable worked as a telephone operator for the Pilot Mound Telephone Company. Mabel was united in marriage to Marvin M. Crouch on June 4, 1929, at her parent's home in Pilot Mound. The couple farmed near Pilot Mound for many years where Mabel helped with the farm work and raised chickens. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Marvin passed away on December 11, 2000. In October of 2005, Mabel moved to the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone.
Survivors include three sons, James (Merry) Crouch of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Gene (Irene) Crouch of Ogden, Iowa, and Larry (Pam) Crouch of Sierra Vista, Arizona; six grandchildren, Curt (Diane) Crouch of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Janet (Joel) Denklau of Thor, Iowa, Penny (Allen) Brockshus of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Richenda (Kenny) Walters of Ogden, Iowa, Rick (Lori) Crouch of Madrid, Iowa, and Scott (Cindy) Crouch of Ankeny, Iowa; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 71 years, Marvin Crouch; and four brothers, John, Glen, Guy, and Roy "Squeak" Hinman.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
