Margaret K. Savits, 95, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 17, 2014, at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. Father James Bruch will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Sunday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m., at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. Margaret Kathryn Hager was born on September 12, 1918, at her parents' home South of Berkley, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph & Ella (Lawler) Hager. She was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School in Perry.
On August 12, 1940, Margaret was united in marriage to Paul Savits at St. Patrick's Church in Perry, Iowa. This union was blessed with five children. The couple lived and farmed in the Ogden area where Margaret was a farm housewife. Margaret's faith was most important to her with family a very close second.
Margaret was a member of St. John's Catholic Church where she was active in the Rosary Society. She had a great sense of humor and her hobbies included bird watching, serving as a 4-H Leader, and belonging to the Ogden Women's Club. Margaret had a green thumb and was a member of the Ogden Garden Club.
Survivors include her four sons; Dennis Savits, Jon (Dee) Savits, Greg (Kathy) Savits all of Ogden, Iowa; Brian Savits of Urbandale, Iowa; one daughter, Mary Sauser of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one sister in law, Berneice Hager of Perry, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul, on May 3, 2002, three brothers, Francis, Gene, and Tom Hager, two sisters, Dorothy Eichhorn, and Rosemary Fiori, and her daughter-in-law, Nancy Savits.
