Marian E. Kimsey, 98, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at her home in Platte City, MO.
A visitation will be 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014; followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral service, at the United Methodist Church in Pilot Mound, IA. Marian was born August 22, 1915 in Champion Township, NY to Harry Hiram and Nellie Eliza (Crain) Maxim. She was a 1932 graduate of the Black River New York High School; later earning her teaching degree from the Cortland New York Normal School.
Marian married her first husband, Gaylord Fraser, in Black River; thus beginning Marion's lifetime of world travels, while serving as a military spouse. Marian and Gaylord were stationed in many areas, including: Governor's Island, NY, and Manila, Philippines, where Gaylord was killed by Japanese forces, during World War II. Marian married her second husband Charles L. Kimsey on January 23, 1943 in Yuma, AZ; together continuing a life of travel, while serving their country. They lived in many areas, including: Ft. Myers, FL, Frazer, IA, Munich, Germany, Fort Hood, TX, Indiana, Panama, and Illinois. After retirement, they returned to settle in Pilot Mound, IA; and later in Platte City, MO.
Marian loved to travel. She had a passion for the ocean and going on walks with Charles. She loved her family, and was a dedicated "supermom".
Marian was preceded in death by: her parents; her first husband, Gaylord; her second husband Charles; and her son Charles "Tad" L. Kimsey, Jr.
She is survived by: 4 daughters Gayl Fraser of Phillipsburg, MT, Georgann Roller of Platte City, MO, Carol (Mike) Kenyon of S. Elgin, IL, and Kathleen (James, Jr.) Brown of Chicago, IL; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great, great grandchildren.
