Marie “Beth” Hay, 92, passed away Wednesday morning, December 16, at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton, Iowa.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 20, 2020, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m., at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Masks and social distancing are required. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2020, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Pastor Nicholas Thackery will officiate. Marie Elizabeth Housken was born on May 5, 1928, the daughter of Clarence and Florence (Simpson) Housken. She was baptized and confirmed at Washington Lutheran Church in Duncombe. Beth attended Cutting School, east of Lehigh, through the 8th grade and graduated with the Stratford High School class of 1947.

On November 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to Earl Thomas Hay at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple lived briefly in Fort Dodge before moving to an acreage East of Lehigh, where she remained until 2001. Marie then moved to a farm west of Burnside and in 2020, became a resident of Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton, due to health issues.

Marie was a farm housewife, and also worked at Franklin Mfg. in Webster City and later as a cook at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton. She faithfully served as the organist at Community Christ Church in Coalville, the Christian Church in Lehigh, and the New Testament Church of Christ in Webster City.

Marie was a member of the Lehigh Women’s Auxiliary of VFW. She was a former member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (now Community of Christ) in Coalville, IA, and later attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl Hay in 1991, one sister, Jane Ozbun, two brothers, Dean Housken and Robert Housken, and her companion Gene Anderson.

Survivors include her children, Richard Hay of Knoxville, IA, Judy (David) Zoch of Fort Dodge, IA, Jim (Kathy) Hay of Harcourt, IA, Diane Sprowls of Knoxville, IA, Rita (Wayne) Lussman of Fort Dodge, IA, Darrel (Kathleen) Hay of Webster City, IA, and Tom Hay of Pflugerville, TX; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Verna Housken, Charlene Housken, and Linda Hay; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
