Marie Orva Will

Marie O. Will, 96, of Harcourt, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 17, 2020, at Pearl Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing in Gowrie, Iowa.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will be having a public memorial at a later date.

Marie Orva Tweedt, daughter of John and Gena (Valen) Tweedt was born on February 15, 1924, on the family farm that was located 11/2 miles southeast of the Palestine Church near Dolliver. She attended Dolliver School, graduating as Valedictorian of her class in 1942. She then attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. Following her education, she worked at the Emmet County Treasurers Office in Estherville.

On October 28, 1951, Marie was united in marriage to Richard Eugene Will at Estherville, Iowa. The couple lived and farmed the family farm south of Dayton until moving to Harcourt in 1979. Upon moving to Harcourt, Marie and Richard became members of the Harcourt and Lanyon Covenant Churches. She was active in many church groups. Marie worked for many years at Friendship Haven and Trinity Regional Hospital. Marie enjoyed canning and freezing her garden produce, gardening, traveling with her husband Richard as he sang in the Farmers Four Quartet and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Dennis Will of Dallas, Texas, and his children, Matthew (Leah) Will and Michael (Melanie) Will, and great grandchildren, Lily, Nolan, Elizabeth and Abigail; daughter, Diane Doolittle of Harcourt, Iowa, and her children, Jordan, Jessica, Jennifer, Joel (Jacci) and Jacob, and great grandchildren, Jaiden, Javon, Bryant, Addi, Jax and Christian; son, David (Jacie) Will of Dayton, Iowa, and their children, Chris Will, Corey Will and Amanda (Josh) Lemon; great grandchildren, Cameron, Aryanna, Caysen and Weston; and one sister, Marjorie Froisland of Moorland.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Will; great grandson, Jamie Will; her brother, Vernon Tweedt and brother-in-law, Richard Froisland.
