Marlys Fischer

Marlys E. Fischer, 79, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015, at the Stratford Nursing & Rehab Center.

Marlys's wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. For online obituaries and condolences please visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com

Marlys Elsie Lund was born on January 19, 1936, in Vincent, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Elsie (Flamme) Lund. She graduated with the Fort Dodge Senior High School class of 1954.

On October 28, 1956, Marlys was united in marriage to Franklin David "Buzz" Fischer in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Jeffrey, Mark, and Pam.

Marlys was a longtime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton where she was active in many Church activities. She also belonged to the Dayton Golf & Country Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Franklin "Buzz" Fischer of Dayton, Iowa; two sons, Jeffrey Fischer of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Mark (Krista) Fischer of Strawberry Point, Iowa; one daughter, Pam (Bruce) Owenson of Harcourt, Iowa; three grandchildren, Beau Fischer, Collin Fischer, and Justine (Brian) Mills; her sister, Violet Phillips of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, a sister in infancy, and one brother, Milo Lund, preceded her in death.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
