Mary "Val" Maile, 81, of Webster City, Iowa, died Sunday, January 20, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Mary's body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the Christian Church in Lehigh. Pastor Richard Laird will officiate. Mary Valeria Vladeff was born on February 14, 1931, in Lehigh, Iowa, the daughter of James and Marian (Carey) Vladeff. She attended Lehigh Schools. Mary was united in marriage to Vernon Maile in 1948, at Lehigh. The couple later divorced.
Mary owned and operated the Hamburger Inn in Lehigh before becoming employed by Franklin Manufacturing in Webster City where she worked until retiring due to ill health.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Alan) Ekstrom of Lehigh, Iowa; two grandsons; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one sister, Marlene Scott of Maplewood, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews; and her longtime companion, Earl Abbott of Webster City, Iowa, and his family. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Gene, Vern, and Don Vladeff; and three sisters, Audrey Sassatelli, Betty Ziemcowski, and Tina Rogers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to either: the Christian Church in Lehigh, or the New Testament Church of Christ in Webster City.
