Maurine (Hartquist) Hanson

June 26, 1920 — July 10, 2013

Maurine (Hartquist) Hanson, 93, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and formerly of Dayton, passed away on Wednesday morning, July 10, 2013, at Friendship Haven Health Center in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Pastor Matthew Martens will officiate. Burial will be in the Dayton Cemetery. Maurine Caroline Hanson was born on June 26, 1920, in Dayton, Iowa, the daughter of Gilbert and Flossie (Tomlinson) Hanson. She graduated with the Dayton High School class of 1938.

Maurine was united in marriage to Charles A. Hartquist on May 25, 1940. They lived in the Lanyon area until moving south of Dayton, where they lived and farmed until his death on January 1, 1965. Maurine was a homemaker her entire life.

On March 1, 1969, Maurine married Melvin C. Hanson at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. They made their home southwest of Dayton until September 1977, when they moved into town. In July of 2000, Maurine and Melvin moved to the Grandview Apartments. In March of 2003, Maurine and Mel moved to Friendship Haven. Melvin passed away on September 6, 2008.

Survivors include a son, Leroy (Betty) Hartquist of Fort Dodge, Iowa; granddaughter, Pamela (Jeffrey) Borup and their children, Brittany and Briana, grandson, Michael (Jill) Hartquist, and their children, Madison and Chase; step-children, Arden (Alice) Hanson of Overland Park, Kansas, Kirby (Kay) Hanson of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; and Kristie Hall of Wilmington, North Carolina; many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; and one sister, Delores (Dale) Wise of Fort Dodge, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Charles Hartquist and Melvin Hanson, and granddaughters, Peggy and Penny Hartquist.

Memorials may be left to either Unity Point Hospice or Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge.
