Merrilue B. Laughlin

April 13, 1935 — January 19, 2010

Merrilue Beth Main Laughlin of Pilot Mound, Iowa lost her battle with cancer January 19, 2010 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. She was born to Robert Charles Main and Lucille Gates Main on April 13,1935 on her Mothers birthday in Lyons of Wadena county, Minnesota. She married Edward Laughlin April 17, 1955 in Lanesboro, Iowa. The couple met in the Army where both were enlisted. Merrilue worked at the Evangelical Free Church Home as a nurses aide in the 70's, and managed the Don Williams Clubhouse with her Husband and Daughter in the late 70's and thru the 80's. She was active in the Pilot Mound Methodist Church and was on the Pilot Mound City Council. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends and playing cards with her buddies at the Pilot Mound Lodge. Merrilue loved kids and there were always kids running in and out of her home for her whole life in Pilot Mound. They always knew where the candy dish and the games were. She had a dog named Bandit and was always dog sitting friends and relatives dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, her Husband Edward, a Sister Amy Jean Bruce of Des Moines, and Sister in law Sarah Selby of Columbia, Indiana and Brothers in law Doug Laughlin of Cambridge City, Indiana and Alvin ( Jimmy) Laughlin of Connersville, Indiana. She is survived by her Son Jeffery ( Shari) Laughlin of Davenport and Daughter Luanne(Michael) Johnson of Ogden, Iowa 3 brothers Robert Vernon ( Patty) Main of Lanesboro, Iowa. Thomas ( Marlene) Main of Lebanon, Oregon and John Main of Roseville, Ca. Sister Dorothy( Vernon) Kraft of Rockwell City, Iowa Brothers in law William (Margaret) Laughlin of Del City, and Joe Laughlin of Connersville, Indiana, Sisters in law June Ann ( Lloyd) Corum, Cora Wright, and Susie Bargo and her companion Jim Hamilton all of Connersville, Indiana and Nita ( Jack) Wills of San Antonio, Texas and several nieces, nephews and her Dog Bandit and 2 Grand dogs Lucy Johnson and Bushi Laughlin.. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home Ogden, Iowa. Private Services will be held with no visitation.
