Mike J. Yetmar, 81, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on suddenly Thursday, November 11, 2021, at his home.
A come & go celebration of life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Graveside services will follow at the Dayton Cemetery. Michael Joseph Yetmar was born on August 9, 1940, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Joseph and LaVonne (Fritts) Yetmar. He was a graduate of St. Edmond High School class of 1958. Mike was self-employed as a construction contractor.
On August 16, 1958, Mike was married to Joanne Kolacia. They were blessed with six children, Mike, JoLynn, Tom, Jerry, Julie, and Kathy. They later divorced.
On July 5, 1999, Mike was united in marriage to Pat Wynne in Arkansas. The couple moved to Dayton in 2000. Pat passed away on April 21, 2007.
Survivors include his children, Mike (Mary) Yetmar of Fort Dodge, IA, JoLynn Yetmar of Des Moines, IA, Tom Yetmar of Kalo, IA, Julie Yetmar of Ankeny, IA, and Kathy Mayer of Fort Dodge, IA; stepchildren, Tom (Carrie) Dixon of Denver, Colorado, and Sheila (Alan) Katz of Washburn, MO; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his longtime companion, Diane Peeler and her children, John Peeler, and Jackie Pals, and her four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, all of Dayton, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Pat Yetmar, son, Jerry Yetmar, grandson, Matt Yetmar, and his great-granddaughter, Mattlynn.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
