Michael "Mick" Hunter

Michael “Mick” Hunter, 80, of Pilot Mound, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Pilot Mound United Methodist Church in Pilot Mound, Iowa. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Iowa Veterans Cemtery in Adel, Iowa. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden is assisting the family. Michael James Hunter, son of Matthew and Elsie (Petersen) Hunter was born on July 26, 1942 in Boone, Iowa. He received his education in Boone, graduating from Boone High School. Following high school, Mick attended vocational college where he earned a degree in motorcycle mechanics.

In September of 1986, Mick was united in marriage to Doris Irene Hoag in Ogden, Iowa. They made their home in Pilot Mound. Mick worked for many years at Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Boone. He enjoyed fishing and loved his motorcycles. Mick was a member of ABATE Iowa District 25 where he held many positions in the club.

In addition to his parents, Mick was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Ronnie and Bruce Hunter.

Survivors include his loving wife, Doris of Pilot Mound; his daughter, Julie Hunter of Red Bluff, CA; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
