Mike L. Duncan, 63, of Fraser, Iowa, passed away on May 22, 2020, at his home after a long battle with brain cancer.
Public graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2020, at the Pilot Mound Cemetery. Pastor Philip Berger will officiate. Please observe social distancing. Michael “Mike” Lester Duncan was born on March 13, 1957, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Lester and Mary (Miller) Duncan. He graduated from Grand Community High School in Boxholm in 1976.
On June 9, 1979, Mike married Melody Sebring at the Pilot Mound United Methodist Church. To this marriage two children were born: Jessica and Joshua.
Mike worked as an auto-body repairman for over 35 years, retiring from Top & Body Repair in 2016 due to his cancer.
Mike was a member of the Pilot Mound United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He served on the Fraser City Council, Grand Community School Board, and belonged to the Ogden Saddle Club.
Mike enjoyed old westerns, John Wayne movies, horseback riding, camping, and hunting – especially his yearly deer hunt with family. He loved telling jokes and making others laugh. Mike looked forward to time spent with friends and family, especially his kids & grandkids, and was never too busy to watch his granddaughters and their activities.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Duncan, his in-laws, David Sebring and Cheryl Hunter, and grandparents, Cara & Sylvia Duncan, and Albert & Grace Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Melody Duncan of Fraser, IA; daughter, Jessica Hicks of Pilot Mound, IA; son, Josh (Rachel) Duncan of Fraser, IA; granddaughters, Brylie Hicks, Addyson Hicks, Emma Duncan, Grace Duncan, and another granddaughter due in July; his mother, Mary Duncan of Boone, IA; sister, Peggy (Bob) Andersen of Johnston, IA; brother, Bobby (Chris) Duncan of Boone, IA; sister-in-law, Tammy (Jeff) Lucas; and several nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
