Mildred Hanson

Mildred E. "Millie" (Lundberg) Hanson, 93, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and formerly of Dayton, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2009, (her 94th birthday) at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. Ministry Intern J. T. Burk will officiate. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday, February 26th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mildred E. Danielson was born on February 27, 1915, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of George and Rose (Carlson) Danielson. She graduated with the Lehigh High School class of 1932. Millie was united in marriage to Harold Lundberg on May 1, 1938, in Lehigh. The couple lived in Dayton for 14 years before moving to Spirit Lake in 1953. Millie worked as a Physician's Assistant in the Spirit Lake Medical Center for 25 years until retiring in 1977. Millie and Harold moved to Fort Dodge in 1978. Harold passed away in 1993. On November 21, 1993, Millie married Russell Hanson at Trinity Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. Millie and Russell made their home in Dayton. Russell passed away in 2007. Millie returned to Spirit Lake in 2008.

Millie and Harold enjoyed traveling and wintered in Weslaco, Texas, for many years. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton.

Millie is survived by two sons and their wives, Harold and Barbara Lundberg of Fridley, MN., and Gary and Marcia Lundberg of Spirit Lake, IA.; three step daughters, Ann Johnson of Manson, IA., Bonnie (Jim) Buckley of Port Townsend, WA., and Darlene (John) Dayton of Greenfield, IA.; five grandchildren, Kris (Scott) Jarland of Corcoran, MN., Kim Lundberg of O'Fallon, MO., Kathi (Tom) Healy of Anthem, AZ., Kara (Scott) Gilmartin of Grover, MO., and Kory (Angie) Lundberg of Bella Vista, AR.; twelve great-grandchildren, Alex and Brandon Wheeler, Connor and Kailee Jarland, Deja and Bryn Lundberg, Emma and Drew Healy, Zach and C J Gilmartin, and Raylee and Dalton Lundberg; three step grandchildren Brenda (Jerry) Southwick of Walnut Creek, CA., Kathy (Ed) Koch of Duluth, MN., and Jennifer (Joe) LaCount of Rogers, MN.; and five step great-grandchildren, Kayla Southwick, Hannah Koch and Matt, Emily and Jessica LaCount; and one brother, Mervin Danielson and his wife, Leah of Lincoln, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harold Lundberg and Russell Hanson; a brother, Milton Danielson, his wife, Audrey; and a sister, Mona Daniels and her husband, Dean.
