Norman Elsberry Sr., 73, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 28, 2010, at his home in Harcourt of lung cancer.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 31, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Lehigh. Pastor Richard Laird will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lehigh. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Lehigh. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton is in charge of the arrangements.
Norman Eugene Elsberry Sr. was born on October 13, 1937, in Pilot Mound, Iowa, the son of Orville and Jenny (Layton) Elsberry. He attended Lehigh schools. Norman was born in the Pilot Mound area living most of his life in Lehigh, Webster City and Harcourt. Following his education, Norman was united in marriage to Letha Heslop. To this union ten children were born. The couple later divorced. Norman drove truck for many years, owned and operated Norm's Mowing Service, and upon retirement drove a school bus for the Webster City Public School System. Norm later married Deborah Geis and the couple made their home west of Dayton
Survivors include his wife, Deborah; children, Randi, Norman Jr. "Bopper", Jolene, Nancy, Joyce, Bart, Elmer, Valerie, Anna, and Michael; 50 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters, Norma, Nancy, Karen, and Sylvia; and several nieces and nephews. His parents; sister, Lola; two brothers, Dean and Gary; and three grandsons, John, Michael, and Jeff, preceded him in death.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
