Patricia Ann Dunn

Patricia “Patty” Dunn, 85, from Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Friday morning, July 5, 2019, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2019 at the Community United Methodist Church Ogden. Reverend Evelyn Lewiston will officiate. Burial will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Sunday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden.

Patricia Ann McDonough was born on March 17, 1934, in Billingsville, Missouri, the daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth “Babe” (Gagen) McDonough. Patty graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1952, and then attended the University of Iowa where she earned her Nursing Degree.

On December 19, 1954, Patty was united in marriage to George Dunn at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden. They were blessed with three daughters Susan, Debbie, and Terrie.

Patty worked for Dr. Linder in Ogden and later as the school nurse for the Ogden Community School District. She also worked as a Boone County Mental Health Advocate for over 20 years, Mary Greeley Medical Center and Green Hills Retirement Center both in Ames, the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, and was an Ogden First Responder for many years.

Patty was currently a volunteer at the Boone County Hospital and was actively involved with Quilts of Valor.

Survivors include three daughters, Sue (Jim) McConnell of Ogden, IA, Debbie (Mike) Dempsey of Maple Grove, MN, and Terrie (Bob) Greco of Boone, IA; grandchildren, John (Kendra) McConnell, Lance (Sarah) McConnell, Brett (Anna) McConnell, Anthony (Erica) Greco, Austin (Maisie) Greco, Kyle (Brad Prowant) Dempsey, Kelly (Cory) Becker, Colin (Katie) Dempsey; great-grandchildren, Alex (Abby), Dylan, Hannah, Ava, Ella, Layla, Sylvie, Major, Rooney, Dempsey, Austin, & Dom, and three due to arrive soon; several nieces and nephews including Patty, Jody, and Connie; and her special friend, Bob Fisher of Boone, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Dunn, and her sister, Mary Lou Peterson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
