Paul Jensen

Paul R. Jensen, 90, of Ames, Iowa, and formerly of Ogden, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Gary Hoyt will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, from 9:30 a.m., until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Paul Richard Jensen was born on April 28, 1927, in Ogden, Iowa, the son of Rasmus and Johanna (Nelson) Jensen.

In 1949, Paul was united in marriage to Dixie Kuehnert in Ames, Iowa. The couple had four children, Kathryn, James, Susan and Richard.

Paul graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1945, and went on to receive a degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University in 1952. While studying at Iowa State he served in the United States Army Reserve, helping to offset his college expenses. He then served two years active duty in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, before being deployed to Korea. Paul was honorably discharged in 1954.

Upon his return from the Korean War, Paul worked as an engineer for the City of Oskaloosa. He later continued his studies at Iowa State University, obtaining his Master's Degree in Science in 1963. Paul then worked as a civil engineer for several companies in Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois, including Globetrotters Engineering in Chicago, where he served as Vice-President. In 1996 Paul retired, and he and Dixie built their home in Ogden, where they remained until moving to Ames in 2016.

Paul belonged to the Community United Methodist Church. He loved gardening & wildflowers, golfing, traveling, and square dancing with Dixie.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie Jensen of Ames, Iowa; four children, Kathryn Watson, James (Jayne) Jensen, Susan (Scott) Schley, and Richard Jensen; six grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Two sisters, Ebba and Anna, preceded him in death.
