Peter M. Bonel

Peter M. Bonel, 69, of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2010, at the Chandler Regional Medical Center in Chandler, Arizona.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the Church of Christ in Ogden. Matt Glawe will officiate. Burial will be at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.

Peter Martin Bonel was born on August 8, 1941, in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Peter and Thelma (Main) Bonel. He was raised in Centerville and graduated with the Centerville High School class of 1959. Pete farmed for William Alexander for 35 years.
On September 14, 1996, Peter was united in marriage to Margaret Ann "Peggy" Hammer in Newton, Iowa. The couple made their home in Conrad, Iowa, until moving to Boone in 2004.

Pete belonged to the Ogden Church of Christ. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Peggy and the couple had made several trips to Brazil. He enjoyed spending time with his family and had a special relationship with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Margaret "Peggy" Bonel of Boone, Iowa; six step-children, Terry Hammer, William (Kay) Hammer, Raymond (Tina) Hammer, Melissa Walburg, Melanie (Wes) Hasley, and Josh (Cara) Hammer; two biological daughters, Dee and Tina; three grandchildren; two sisters, Suzanne (John) Abbott of Maryville, Missouri, and Kathy Martin of Pleasantville, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
