Randy D. Kimsey, 50, of Ogden, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Paul Evans will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Monday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.
Randall David Kimsey was born on November 14, 1959, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Raymond and Patricia (Cook) Kimsey. Growing up, Randy lived in Alaska, Michigan, Louisiana, and Italy, before settling in the Boone area while his father served in the United States Air Force. He graduated with the Grand Community High School class of 1977. Randy was united in marriage to Lori Pharaoh on June 15, 1983, at her parents' home in Ogden. Randy was employed as an assistant chief operator of the power plant at Iowa State University in Ames for 20 years, until leaving in 1998 due to health reasons. Later that same year he enrolled as a student at Iowa State University, graduating with a degree in Sociology in 2002. Following his college education, Randy worked with the mentally challenged.
Randy enjoyed history, especially United States Naval history, photography, playing guitar, and loved his cats.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Kimsey; father-in-law, Jerry Pharaoh; brother-in-law, Jim Pharaoh all of Ogden, Iowa; and numerous other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother-in-law, Joyce Pharaoh.
