Randy Lee Saunders, son of Harley and Donna (Alexander) Saunders, was born on September 18, 1955, in Boone, Iowa. He graduated from Ogden High School with the class of 1974.
On October 6, 1984, Randy was united in marriage to Tina Wirth at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm southeast of Ogden.
Randy worked as a Conductor at Chicago Northwestern Railroad, later becoming Union Pacific Railroad for almost 40 years until his retirement.
Randy loved fishing, hunting with his son, Christopher, and his other cronies, gardening, mushroom hunting, golfing, and bowling where he had scored a 300 game. He enjoyed his annual fishing trips with his buds to northern Minnesota. Randy’s favorite quote was, “If I can’t fish off of it, I’m not getting on it!!” Randy loved messing around on his John Deere tractor and rooting for the Phillies, the Hawkeyes and the Steelers. He also enjoyed teasing his wife, Tina. But most of all, he enjoyed his family, his son, Christopher, and daughter-in-law, Amelia, and most important to him was his love for his two grandchildren, Riley and Meira.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Survivors include his loving wife, Tina Saunders of Boone; his son, Christopher (Amelia) Saunders of Ogden; grandchildren, Riley and Meira Saunders; two brothers, Neil Saunders and Grant Saunders both of Ogden; two sisters, Brenda Fisher and Teresa (Craig) Davenport both of Ogden; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
