Ray Kauffman, 64, of Harcourt, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30, Friday, August 5, 2016, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton, with Rev. Russ Crouthamel officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm. Raymond Dan Kauffman was born on April 16, 1952, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Dan and Elaine (Freeman) Kauffman. He graduated with the Boxholm Community High School class of 1970, and furthered his education at D.M.A.C.C. and I.C.C.C. He served in the Iowa National Guard in Boone working on Helicopter Hydraulics.

On June 10, 1977, Ray was united in marriage to Laurie Ann Wolf in Pocahontas, Iowa. The couple established their home in Harcourt where they farmed for 39 years. Ray loved farming the land but his true love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Ray was active in the community having served on the Boxholm Coop Board, Webster County Extension Council, 4-H and the Webster County Sheep Committee, and Farm Bureau Board. He was a former member of the Boxholm Lions Club and Christ The King Catholic Church where he served on Church council. He enjoyed farming, tractor rides on his Massey Harris 22, yearly fishing trips to Akaska, South Dakota, and coffee in Harcourt with his pals.

His father, Daniel Kauffman, and one son, Mark Christopher Kauffman, preceded Ray in death.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Laurie Kauffman of Harcourt, Iowa; two sons, Matt (Jenny) Kauffman and children, Christopher and Chase of Laurel, Iowa, and Mike (Katie) Kauffman and children, Joe and Grace of Harcourt, Iowa; two daughters, Megan (Jon) Christie and children, Kennedy and Charlie of Ogden, Iowa, and Mallory Kauffman of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; his mother, Elaine Kauffman of Story City, Iowa; and one brother, Tom (Frances) Kauffman of Boxholm, Iowa.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
