Raymond F. Johnson, 86, of Lehigh, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Lehigh. Rev. Dennis Shepherd will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh. Raymond Franklin Johnson was born on June 11, 1927, in Lehigh, Iowa, the son of Edgar and Olive (Echelberger) Johnson. He graduated with the Lehigh High School class of 1946. Following his education, Raymond enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country during WWII.
On October 30, 1948, Raymond was united in marriage to Thelma Goodpaster at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. They were blessed with three children: Lonnie, Christie, and Lorie.
Raymond was employed at Hormel's in Fort Dodge for 35 years, until retiring in 1982. He was a lifelong resident of Lehigh.
Raymond belonged to the Lehigh United Methodist Church and was a life member of the Donald Harper Post #5720 V.F.W. He was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Thelma Johnson of Lehigh, Iowa; one son, Lonnie (Sandy) Johnson of Lehigh, Iowa; one daughter, Lorie Johnson of Lehigh, Iowa; his brother, Donnie (Joyce) Johnson of Webster City, Iowa; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His parents, one brother, Robert Johnson, one sister, Lorraine Johnson, and his daughter, Christie Johnson on March 11, 2010, preceded him in death.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
