Rev. Terri Lin Elder, 66, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 8, 2016, at her home.
Terri's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Pilot Mound United Methodist Church. Burial will be held at a later date. For online obituaries and condolences please visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com
Terri Lin Elder was born on December 22, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin and Evelyn (Petersen) Elder.
Terri graduated with the Plattsburgh High School class of 1968, Plattsburgh, New York. She later graduated from Henderson County Jr. College in Texas, in 1977, and from Oakland City College, Oakland, Indiana, in 1981. She went on to receive two Masters Degrees from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, graduating in 1986. She was ordained an Elder in June of 1992
Rev. Elder served as Pastor of the United Methodist Church in the communities of Laurel, IA, Fenton/Cylinder, IA, Truro/Peru, IA, Boxholm/Pilot Mound, IA, Community of Joy in Bettendorf, IA, and Epworth, IA. She retired in March of 2006, and moved to Des Moines to help with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, LuAnna Lynch of Des Moines, Iowa, Guy "Ed" Lynch of Des Moines, Iowa, Andrew (Staci) Lynch of Wichita, Kansas, and Jo (Jim Culler) Lynch of Ankeny, Iowa; five grandchildren, Madi, Cheyenne, Guy Edwin Jr., Mikey, and Elliana; her brother-in-law, Joe Bradley of New York; two sisters, Susan (Mike) Hall of Nebraska, and Sally (Gary) Teeman of Kansas; and her step-brother, Randy Jones of Iowa.
Terri was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Nancy Bradley.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
