Richard "Dick" Heslop

Dick Heslop, 83, of Lehigh, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City.

A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Lehigh United Methodist Church. Pastor Beth Morgan will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #1856. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church. Burial will be at Hartman Cemetery, rural Lehigh at a later date. Richard Wayne Heslop was born on February 27, 1935, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Edward and Nancy (Potter) Heslop.

Dick graduated from Lehigh High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his Country during the Korean War. He later attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.

On August 17, 1958, Dick was united in marriage to Phyllis Lorraine Dosland in Lehigh, Iowa. To this union three daughters were born: Cindy, Angie, and Jody.

Dick was employed by Dickey Clay in Lehigh and later worked as a cement truck driver for American Concrete. He belonged to the United Methodist Church in Lehigh.

Survivors include three daughters, Cindy (Mike) O'Hearn of Northboro, Iowa, Angie (Dwight) Wedemeyer of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Jody (Kirk) Klaver of Webster City, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Darlene) Heslop of Hope, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Phyllis Heslop on May 24, 2013, and siblings, Ida Davidson, William "Bud" Heslop, Dolores "Peck" Spurlin, Edward "Boy" Heslop, Donald "Mick" Heslop, Joyce Murray, Frances Summers, Genese Hanus, Letha Elsberry, and Cecil and Ione who both died in infancy.
