Richard Schultz

Richard "Dick" Schultz, 84, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center following a lengthy struggle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Pastor Richard Laird will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lehigh. Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton.

Richard Eugene Schultz was born on January 30, 1928, in Otho, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Gladys (Schill) Schultz. He received his education in Webster County Country Schools and the Burnside High School.

On December 14, 1947, Richard was united in marriage to Lillian Good at the United Brethren Church in Lehigh. The couple established their home in Lehigh where Richard worked briefly at Lehigh Sewer Pipe & Tile. He also worked as a police officer for the City of Lehigh, and was employed by Geo. A. Hormel in Fort Dodge for 32 years until retiring in 1983.

Richard served as Treasurer of the A.F.L.C.I.O. Labor Union for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and was a HAM Radio Operator.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Among the survivors are his wife of 64 years, Lillian Schultz of the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center; two daughters, Kathy (Farhang) Shadravan of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Joyce (Kirk) Anderson of Somers, Iowa; and one son Randy (Kathy) Schultz of Lehigh, Iowa; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn Schultz of California.
