Rick Duff

Rick Duff, 62, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the Boone County Hospital.

Ricky Gene Duff was born on January 29, 1955 in Creston, Iowa. Rick is the son of Leland Duff and Dorothy (Leach) Duff. Rick grew up in Lamoni, Iowa and went to Lamoni schools. Rick had two daughters, Rachel and Josilyn.

Rick liked to travel around with his brother Steve. They had been all over the United States just taking in the countryside and stopping to work jobs when they needed to. Rick spent many years in Florida where he was a master carpenter. He could create almost anything with his hands. He liked to construct things and tinker on cars, trucks and motorcycles. Rick maintained a professional pool player status in Florida, winning multiple 6 foot trophies.

Rick liked being out in nature and watching animals and being in the woods and mountains. He enjoyed working with his current coworkers from Buckaroos Inc in Nevada, Iowa. He loved having pets and liked to spoil them a little. He was the master chef at all of the Duff family reunions.

Rick had such a gentle way about him, even in crisis. He will be missed by many friends and family members as the person who was the quiet link among them.

Survivors include two daughters, Rachel (Thane) Glynn of Creston, Iowa, and Josilyn Duff of Helper, Utah. Grandchildren, Bailly (Zach Benn) Glynn of Ames, Iowa; Jacey Glynn of Lenox, Iowa; Reese Glynn of Creston, Iowa. Mother, Dorothy (Leach) Duff of Ogden, Iowa; father, Leland Duff of Coalgate, Oklahoma. Three brothers, Gail (Tammi Johnson) Duff of Webster City, Iowa; Rod (Susan) Duff of Hot Springs, South Dakota; Gerald (Margaret Liston) Duff of Ogden, Iowa; and one sister Linda (Ethan Williams) Nichols of Catlin, Illinois.

Many nieces and nephews, Mike (Wendy) Duff of Ogden, Iowa; Nicole Wilson of Boone, Iowa; Matt Duff of Overland Park, Kansas; Pattie (Tim Strong) Duff of Des Moines, Iowa; Donny Duff of Iowa; Stacy (Mark) Sabala of Springfield, Missouri; Angela (Russ) Tomes of Chicago, Illinois; Trevin (Grace) Nichols of McLean, Illinois; Sierra (Jorj Habib) Nichols of Houston, Texas; Cody (Amanda Bode) of Austin, Texas. Many great nieces and nephews.

Rick is proceeded in death by his younger brother Steve Duff, nephew Danny Duff and step-grandson Payton Glynn. Grandparents, Alvin (Grace) Leach and Earl (Reva) Duff.
