Rita lived a full and fulfilling life. She was born March 9, 1929 on a farm southwest of Ogden to Otho and Loretta Steelsmith. She eventually had three sisters with whom she shared farm duties. Her love of outdoors far surpassed her indoor duties and soon she was driving a tractor just like her dad.
She grew in her love for God, family, friends, flowers and music. She married Glen Seeman and they had three children, Steve, Glenda and Ramona. She also helped her husband on the farm, plowing the corn and cultivating the beans besides taking care of her family and becoming an excellent pastry chef. She made many wedding cakes for her friends. Her love of games is well known among her friends, bridge being the favorite but she was a mean foe at Scrabble and beat her sisters every time.
She always had lovely flowers and her love of music led her to become church organist at the age of twelve. She shared her music with St. John's Catholic Church for sixty years as well as providing flowers for the church from her garden. She was a lovely singer and sang alto with her sisters whenever they could get together. She also had a smashing sense of humor and kept her family and friends laughing.
She loved her grandchildren and some of her fondest memories are of baby-sitting them when they were little.
She and Glen moved to Ogden after she suffered a debilitating car accident and could no longer help on the farm. Glen was in ill health by then so they had a farm equipment sale, packed up and moved to town where they lived for many years.
In her later life, and long after Glen passed away, she sold her house and moved to Eastern Star Masonic Home where she met many new friends and enjoyed seeing some old ones. She spent many happy years there and was often found playing piano in the chapel and the dining area, her love of music still active.
Rita is preceded in death by her husband, Glen Seeman, son, Steve Seeman, daughter, Glenda Stoeffler, and sister, Beatrice Lazar. She is survived by one daughter, Ramona Stanley of Ames, Iowa, two sisters, Jean Marie Ripperda of Georgetown, TX, who passed away just days later, and Valerie Kempton of Scottsdale, Arizona and four grandchildren, Jesse Seeman, Melissa Hodne, Stephanie Stanley and Elijah Stanley.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
